Except instead of getting drunk off of wine coolers and rum (not mixed together..or wait.. can you? I just don't know) I woke up at about 3am this morning with the room completely spinning at warp speed.
So, I don't know if that's what woke me up or the screaming and crying of the kid upstairs. James has a cold and was up all night coughing so I'm sure that didn't help. So, even though I was super dizzy, not being able to fix my eyes on one object, with the feeling of my eyeballs bugging out of my skull, I got up to check on James and use the bathroom.
I was walking sideways.
I thought, "uhm..this isn't good. not good at all." I went a woke up Rick (which I felt horrible about even though he's off on Mondays, but still, I don't mind dealing with the sick kids). He took care of James while I laid back down. And that's what actually made it worse- the laying down! I felt like I was going to barf..feeling like I was on the Gravitron again.
This went on for 3 hours.
As soon as I would sit up for a bit (which helped) I'd get so sleepy that I gave going back to bed another shot. And as soon as I would do that I'd feel really ill again. It was now this Gravitron/rollercoaster nightmare. I wanted off of this ride.
To be honest, I kind of let my anxiety take over after a half an hour of this. But I couldn't think of a reason for this feeling.. "Am I getting sick? did I catch something? Do I have food poisoning? Am I having a stroke?" I know. I really do worry too much.
I felt my whole body get really cold all of the sudden, which I'm guessing was (maybe?) a drop in blood pressure. The nausea came and went. It was honestly, the weirdest thing I have ever experienced.
I ended up falling back to sleep for a little bit and woke up with a dull headache in the front of my head. I was weak, tired, and sore. And of course, I had to google this crap. I actually had a word pop into my head and couldn't remember what it was and it ended up being what I'm pretty sure I experienced:
I saw that gif file at the right hand side and was like "OH MY GOD YES! THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME!"
So I figure it could be a combination of issues that caused this.. obviously if it happens again I'm immediately going to the doctors. I don't play around. I could have been dehydrated, really tired, had some built up anxiety (last week was SO busy), and I do watch the worst shows right before bedtime (can't watch American Horror Story with the kids, unfortunately). It could have also been my very first migraine. I read more than once online that migraines come in all shapes and forms and vertigo is sometimes what a migraine experience is for some. I guess I'll find out.
I just am so scared it's going to happen again. I'm so thankful that it happened while I was in the comfort of my own home. I'd hate to be driving or in the middle of doing something really important with the kids with me. I guess now I (sort of) know how people who get migraines feel. Right now I don't know what my trigger was. But I'm sure I'll get to the bottom of it. I really want to know why that happened so I can avoid it. 'Til then, I guess I should just go and have a few drinks? At least I can earn some sort of street cred.

oh that is so scary! I'm glad you're ok!
awwww thanks Becca! It hasn't happened again so yay! When more people told me that they had had this before I felt better. Unfortunately, misery loves company.. but I hate that other people still had to experience it. Really strange stuff. Migraines run in my family and I was wondering if I'd ever have them.. if it is migraines (that headache lasted a few days after) then I guess 32 years of not having them is kind of nice. Again, thank you : )
