our little heart hero.

About a month or so ago I saw a link on Facebook that caught my attention. My buddy Kristin had posted a link to an organization called "Heart Heroes" (please click that link you won't be sorry) that provided free..yes free hero capes for children affected by congenital heart defects. At first I misread that it had a cost and put the idea aside and didn't sign up. The next day I just had to check again and boy am I glad I did because yes, they were doing this for free. I signed up Natalie, gave some extra information about her and just kept thinking how cool that was.
Until yesterday evening I had sort of forgotten about it. Not forgetting the charity but you know what I mean. I didn't spend any time going "where is that cape???" Well, yesterday evening I was able to go and get the mail and sure enough, there it was in it's little white box.
I couldn't wait to open it so I did. It was pretty much the cutest thing I had ever seen: a pretty pink satin cape with the letter "N" on the back surrounding with a purple heart pattern. Also enclosed were a few business cards from the company that actually made it. The company is called "Power Capes" and guys, they really did a fantastic job making it.
How freakin' cool is that?
Finally after breakfast I was able to give it to Natalie.. I have a video clip and will have to get that up soon but for now here are some photos:

She kept saying "YAY!" while looking down... such a silly girl. And yes, that is a banana sticker on her shirt.
James was feeling a little left out so I went and grabbed his cape: a cape that his daddy used to play with. If I'm thinking correctly, his Gammy made this years and years ago. The blue side has the Batman symbol on the back and then you can flip that over to reveal the red side, which has the Superman emblem. So there you go.
Feeling happy he ran over to tell Natalie how happy he was for her.
Could this kid be any sweeter?
And could this kid be any sweeter?
Here is the back of the cape..  a cape fit for a true CHD warrior.
Now let's keep kicking ass Natalie!
