just in time for the holidays

So...our furnace decided to crap out on us recently. Actually, it was Thanksgiving where it decided that it was time for a break. During the day the oven was blasting out the nice hot air so it actually go hot in our place.
We turned the furnace back on at around 9pm and VOILA! it worked! And then came the every other hour moments where yet again, the furnace would shut itself down. Probably out of panic because hey! why try to make it so damn hot in here? If only our furnace knew how cold our kids' room got.
So, after the furnace not working at all from Friday night into Saturday morning we called someone to come and take a look at it. We were optimistic that maybe that it would be a minor fix..nothing major. We put aside $250 for it. Well, we must like to break things right around here because it's going to cost $600 to replace the control board inside the furnace..which is kind of like the engine of a car.
Crap.

Crap. Crap.

We fiddled with it more after the guy left. We were in denial and kept thinking we could fix it because OF COURSE when the guy was here checking it out it worked. But he did a test with his little wire device thingie (I have no idea what it was called) and it was spitting out uneven amounts of flame to go with the gas popping out. I dunno.
I'm no HVAC worker. So, we have heat here and there. Basically, whenever it feels like working for a little while. Thank goodness we have that at least. And thank goodness we haven't had seriously cold weather yet here in MD. It gets into the 30s at night but that's nothing compared to MD weather in January and February.
So we are expecting to get this fixed by around Wednesday. The part should have been ordered today.

..and there the furnace goes again.. shutting down... grrrr.

Oh no! I'm sorry it's going to be such an expensive fix. That really stinks. I hope it's up and running like it should be soon!
